About Me#

Hello! I’m Klaus Schönegger, a 31-year-old technophile developer, cypherpunk, and a fervent advocate for privacy and open-source technology, hailing from the scenic landscapes of Graz, southern Austria. My journey in the tech world began at HTBLA Kaindorf, where my dedication and hard work earned me the title of ‘Ingenieur’—pending some paperwork, of course. My academic path led me to the Technische Universität Graz, where I pursued a Bachelor of Computer Science. Though an unforeseen twist left me just shy of completing my degree, it only fueled my passion for practical, procedural programming and its real-world applications.

Professional Path#

My professional odyssey found its home at E.S.Elektronik in Lebring, where I’ve been a cornerstone as a full-stack developer. My role spans a broad spectrum, from microcontroller development in C, crafting internal tools in Python, to the design and deployment of websites, databases, ERP systems, and even the full design and implementation of various Android apps. Beyond development, I safeguard the company’s digital fortress as the System Administrator and lead on software security, ensuring our services run smoothly and securely.

Passions and Projects#

When I’m not entrenched in code at E.S.Elektronik, I’m diving deep into my passion projects and side hustles. My interests are vast and varied—ranging from the intricacies of open-source contributions, the ever-evolving world of privacy and encryption, to the cutting-edge realms of DeFi and Web3. AI, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. I’m constantly experimenting with the latest in open-weight LLMs and stable diffusion models, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

My curiosity doesn’t stop there. I’m on a perpetual quest to deepen my understanding of disruptive technologies—be it crafting my own transformer, fine-tuning LLMs, or exploring the potential of emerging programming languages like Rust. Self-hosting services on single-board computers and VPS has become second nature to me, all in the pursuit of safeguarding the privacy of my loved ones and myself. This journey has endowed me with a wealth of knowledge in Linux servers and Docker containers.
